Our Island’s Voice.
Our Island’s Voice exists to bring people from The Island together in order to share ideas and work on projects designed to improve the lifestyles of those that live on The Island.
Ken Blanchard, an internationally acclaimed management guru, once said that “None of us is as smart as all of us.” The Island’s Voice is here to harness the combined intellect and skills that exist on The Island to identify real solutions to real issues.
We want to see more jobs created on The Island, firstly to help support those that are unemployed and then secondly to allow those who have to travel off The Island, to work on The Island if they so wish. Ideally these jobs will be created by Islanders, utilising the services of fellow Islanders and therefore keeping more and more of our hard-earned cash circulating around The Islands economy.
Over time we want The Island and its residents to become more self-sufficient, so that we can provide for more and more of our daily needs, thus helping reduce our food bills and doing our bit to reduce the amount of fuel consumed transporting stuff around. So we’re going to encourage more Islanders to support initiatives on The Island to get Sheppey growing it’s own produce for local consumption.
We recognise that the rising fuel and energy prices are likely to eat more and more into our disposable incomes and that alternative solutions are needed. We also recognise that sustainable alternatives exist and that technology is playing a part in creating genuine, affordable alternatives to fossil based fuels. We want The Island to be at the forefront in reducing energy consumption and creating sustainable alternative sources of energy and fuel and so we’d like to see teams of Islanders working on solutions for our future wellbeing.
